Dad's birthday weekend

Dad & Cade relaxing on the couch on dad's birthday
This weekend was a pretty busy weekend.
Friday night Cade got to meet his cousin Madison Glodo for the first time. Maddy couldn't wait to see Cade and was so sweet and gentle with him. There aren't many 4 year olds I would let stick a pacifier in my childs mouth and hold it there, but she was a fantastic assistant! She knew just what to do. So that was a fun evening getting to visit with her and my cousin Josh. Later that evening it was bath time in the tub for the very first time. That went over well. Much better than any bath he's had. He didn't whine or cry one bit, but only looked at us like "what in the world are you putting me in?" I kind of thought the water would scare him or upset him, but considering the fact that he was that way for 9 months might explain why he took it so well. Then on Saturday, Cade and Dad watched some football and then I dropped Cade off to his first babysitter (other than Gramma Gaye) while I went to my friend Heather's baby shower. Cade spent the afternoon with my Aunt Debbie, Uncle Steve, and Maddy. I am glad to say he survived it well, as I knew he would. My aunt has quite a bit of experience these days with 2 grandkids of her own. Anyway, they did great, and I guess I'll let them babysit again someday. Saturday night we had dinner and ice cream cake (dad's favorite) for his 26th birthday. Then on Sunday, dad's actual birthday, we went to breakfast with Grandpa and Great Grandpa Brooks. It was fun and good to see them both. Cade and his Great Grandpa share the same birthday. We took a picture of the four generations, but unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me. So hopefully I can get one later. We just took it easy the rest of the afternoon. Here are some pics I took over the weekend.

Watching football dressed in his Notre Dame gear. Uncle Matt would be so proud!

I like this picture, but can't figure out who he looks like. I'm leaning towards his dad. Any thoughts???

Froggy Towel

I just couldn't resist posting a few pictures of Cade in his nice, warm, frog towel. It was just too cute! Things are going good. He went to the doctor today and weighed in at 9 lbs. 9 ozs. He's growing so fast already!!

Boys, Boys, Boys

Tonight, we were visited by our good friends, Nicki, Darin, and Gibson Fager, and Bridget, Yeyo, and Aurelio Granados. Gibson is 3 & 1/2 months and his cousin Aurelio is almost 7 weeks (he and Cade are exactly 1 month apart). Here is a picture of the three of them having a pretty good time. Aren't they just the cutest?! From left to right: Cade, Aurelio, and Gibson

Here, Aurelio decides to pick on Cade a little and Gibson is having fun on his own. As you can see below, Cade wasn't too happy about Aurelio pushing him around. I guess we know who the bully in the group is going to be. Who would have thought!!

Visiting Dad at work

Today, we visited daddy at work for the very first time. Everyone was so excited to see Cade and it wasn't long before the women crowded around the front desk to check him out :) And he couldn't have been a more pleasant baby. He was so alert and content. He fit right in and took all of Kevin, John, and Steve's (Dad's bosses) jokes pretty well- just like his daddy does everyday. Someday, when he can talk, he'll pay 'em all back :) Dad was so glad he got to show off his little boy. Here are a few pictures in dad's office.

Happy Halloween!

The Brooks'

The pumpkins were given to us by my friends Courtney and Melissa and carved by Melissa's husband Ryan. Didn't he do an awesome job?!

Cade's first bath

Cade is ready for his very first bath at home!

Dad jumped right in there to give him his bath and he did a great job! Cade did pretty good, but didn't care for his eyes to be wiped so much.

He didn't mind his head being washed, so this calmed him down quite a bit.

All done!

Doctor Update

Thought I would give a little update on what the plan is to bring Cade into this world. I am being induced this Thursday morning, so he'll be here just as soon as they can get him! It will probably be late Thursday night or early Friday morning before anything happens. We can't wait!

Still no Cade....but Owen came to visit!

This past week, my cousin Sarah and her son Owen have been here visiting. Right now, Sarah is in Puerto Rico and will be returning home Wednesday night just in time to be here for Cade's arrival. Here are a few pics of little Owen and the family.

Maddy & Owen giving hugs. Owen just loves to hug her.
Maddy decided she was going to play this game where she determines who is bigger- Uncle Jay or Grandpa Steve. We're not quite sure what the dolls and bat had to do with their size, but she was quite enjoying herself making them hold all this stuff. It was humorous!

Dusty, Michelle, Logan & Madeline came to visit at the Glodo's too. Owen was very interested in her and kept wanting to touch her face. It was so cute!

40 weeks!!!

So today was the day. The day we thought Cade would be here by. But as it turns out, he is just like his momma and is running a little late. I have definitely felt him drop quite a bit and at times I have to walk hunched over. So I know he will be ready sooner than later. I am down to this one black shirt that I wish I could wear every single day! I remember a certain someone that was pregnant herself not too long ago (exactly 9 months ago today!) and she wore it all the time :) Now I know why. It is sooo comfortable and seems to be the only thing long enough that my belly won't pop out of. I guess this will be my last picture :( I'm kind of sad about that. But totally excited for what is to come! Hopefully the next picture I post will be of Cade himself!!! My dr. appt. is at 8 a.m. tomorrow (Friday morning) so I will be sure to let everyone know how it goes.

39 weeks

Went to the doctor today. Still not much going on. Just dilated to a 1 and that's about it. I have another appointment scheduled for next Friday (day after my due date). Doctor Tsung says if I go a week past my due date then they would induce. I really don't mind holding out for another two weeks if I have to. I am feeling pretty good and am enjoying the anticipation. We will definitely be ready when the time comes!

Congrats to Ryan & Melissa Farley! 10.6.06

Cade and I had a very busy day Friday. We started out getting my hair done and then headed straight for Herrin to meet the bride and rest of the bridesmaids. Melissa and her "maids" looked absolutely beautfiful. We had pictures taken at the Farley household, then at Kokepelli Golf Course, then at the Catholic Church in Herrin. The professional pictures should turn out awesome, especially the ones on the golf course. We did some really neat poses. The wedding started at 7 o'clock in the evening followed by a reception at the Carbondale Civic Center. The church looked amazing as did the reception hall. The decorations were pink and green and each table had individual cakes, menus, and caramel apples for a favor. Here are a few photos that were taken throughout the day. Melissa and Ryan are headed to Cabo San Lucas for their honeymoon tonight. Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Ryan Farley!

Doctor Update

Cade and I went to the doctor today. There wasn't anything new going on...still just dilated to 1 cm. He is still head down and just waiting for the time to make his big debut! We go back next Thursday. So we'll see if I've progressed any by then!

It's October 1st!!!

Oh my goodness...I saw on an email tonight where the date said Sunday, October 1, 2006. I can't believe October is already here. Not too long ago, it felt so far away. And now Cade will be here in just a couple of weeks! I can't wait as I will have something else to do other than sit here and listen to my husband scream at the Bears on television. There are times I actually jump because he startles me so bad with his yelling. I truly can't wait!!!

It's also hard to believe Melissa's wedding is just a few days away! I believe I am actually going to make it down the aisle. I am so glad that Cade and I get to be a part of it all. And I can't wait to see her in her dress! I know she is just going to look absolutely gorgeous! Ryan is a VERY lucky guy.

We finally got our rocker for Cade's room-you'll have to come by and visit once he is here so you can see the completed nursery. I'd post pictures, but you just have to see it for yourself.

Well, not much else to say, except congrats to our godson Owen who got his very 1st haircut today! Check out the Muhs News blog for pictures of the big event. He looks like such a big boy now!
