We're Back!

After what was suppose to be an eight hour trip to Iowa turning into a twenty-eight hour trip, we finally made it and spent a wonderful week with Cody, Sarah and the boys. We didn't leave the house but had tons of entertainment and excitement with the three boys. It seemed like it flew by especially since mom, Cade, and I had to stop just about 50 minutes away from Cody and Sarah's house last Monday because the roads were just too bad to travel -hence, the 28 hour trip. They had warned us of a blizzard, but unfortunately we took the chance thinking it wouldn't be THAT bad. Turned out-it WAS that bad. We spent Monday night in a hotel and finished the drive the next morning. Mom and I must have seen a hundred cars along the road in ditches or wrecked once we reached Iowa. We couldn't believe our eyes and were wondering what the heck we got ourselves into. It was pretty devestating at times. The best part about it was the fact that Cade was a trooper. I had hardly packed anything for him since we were going to Sarah's, who has all the baby gear, toys, etc. anyone could need. And after almost 12 hours in the car, he finally got a little frustrated, but we were luckily getting ready to exit. I think it took us like 3 hours just to go 10 miles or something. The whole thing was unbelieveable. But well worth it once I got to see little baby Cameron!

Sweet baby Cameron-he is still so tiny and was definitely the easiest to take care of out of the three. Although Sarah might beg to differ!
King Owen- this was a freebie out of Cade's Burger King meal and Owen just loved it. He kept saying "King Owen!" and "King Cade!"

Cameron really looks like Cody to me here.
Thanks Cody, Sarah, Owen and Cam for letting us take over your house this week! We are so glad we came despite the crazy trip, and we can't wait to see you again soon! Miss you already!

Parker and Cade

Friday night we went over to the Diehl's home, cooked dinner and played with the boys. Cade did pretty well with Parker although he played a little rough at times. But they had a good time and Parker is getting to be quite the big boy!

Cade cracking up at Parker. He's been laughing like this constantly lately. He just gets slap happy.
They were both on the move so fast, I could hardly get a picture of them together!

Iced in

Cade and I were iced in all day today while daddy went to work. And since I haven't been quite so good at getting the camera out lately, I decided I'd goof around with him since we had nothing else to do! Our power was out for a couple of hours and the cable was out pretty much the whole day. So I snuggled up to the couch and watched some movies. It was a great day off!

The only way to tell he has hair :)

Cade's new favorite hangout

Cade loves hanging out in our fridge. I dread every time I have to open it. Sometimes I even wait for him to look away while I get something out of it. The picture below is his expression when I finally closed it on him. However, he managed to sneak a few big things out of there.

Cade's Stats

Not much new in our household. Just fighting the terrible twos :) Is that possible already?? I find myself constantly giving Cade anything safe that might interest him in the least so that I can cook dinner or get ready for work, etc., etc., etc. He just hates being so little and wants to be at mommy's level! I just laugh because he is so intrigued by the silliest things. But it only lasts for a short time and then it's on to something else or into mommy's arms. He's a lot of work but worth every minute!

But anyways, I took Cade to his 15 month checkup today and just thought I'd share some of his stats since I have no pictures to post really. He is in the 70th percentile in height, and 50th in weight. So he is right on track and growing like a weed! I hope he keeps it up so he can beat his daddy at some b'ball! That's all for now. I hope to have some pictures up soon!

Update on Cameron

Well, just a quick update on baby Cameron. The doctors say he is doing much better and the infection is clearing up. They are hopeful that he will get to come home on Monday. So the Muhs family will get to be an actual family again. Ours prayers are working! Keep them coming!

Prayers for baby Cameron

Unfortunately the past few days haven't been so great around the Brooks household as us, my parents, my grandma and an entire group of people that were at a party we attended over the weekend had all come down with some sort of stomach flu. It started hitting all of us, one person after the next. Fortunately, it only lasted for just about a day or so and we have been praying that Cade doesn't catch it. But we have thankfully recovered and are back to reality. However, I can't say the same for my cousin Sarah and her newborn son, Cameron. He developed a staph infection due to a sore on his body and is now being treated in the hospital until it clears up. Cody and Sarah and especially Cam, have been through a whirlwind of events since he was born. Between him arriving early and the concerns with that, the cold he got soon after, and now this, they have definitely dealt with more than they ever expected to at this point. He is just now a month old and was actually admitted to the hospital on Jan. 19th which was in fact his due date. But the doctors seem hopeful that the infection should clear up now within about a week. So while Sarah is at the hospital 24/7 by Cameron's side, Cody is at home with little Owen teaching him some new tricks. I got a phone call last night from them that lead me to believe Sarah may not be buying and changing two sizes of diapers for too much longer! Wouldn't that be a nice surprise for her to come home too! So keep up the good work Cody! Sarah was able to make a short trip home today to catch up with Owen and do a few things before heading back to Cam's side. Cody and Sarah are all each other have up there and are great support for each other. I know all of their family and friends are reaching our hearts out to them since we unfortunately cannot lend a hand to them being so far away. Our thoughts and prayers mean so much to them right now. My aunt and mom are leaving for Iowa Thursday morning for more support and to allow Cody to be at Cam's side too. It has been hard on them being 45 minutes away from each other and Sarah alone at the hospital as she hears all of this news and sees all of this going on. But Cameron is going to get through it and continue to be the little fighter he has been. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Cade and GiGi

I came across this picture of Cade and his Great Grandma Avis over the holidays. It is so hard to get him to sit still for a picture!

Cade and Adyson

This was our Christmas with the Thrailkills. Cade and Adyson play so well together and even puckered up for each other. My dad captured that moment on his camera so I don't have them just yet. Adyson definitely teaches Cade a thing or two. But Cade's daddy wasn't too happy when he caught him playing with her new pink oven at her Nana's house!

Adyson giving her "little cousin" a BIG hug!

Daddy and Cade

This was just a random picture I took one night out to dinner. I really liked it and thought I would share.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was pretty low key this year. We just went over to my parents' house for the evening and took a few pics of Cade in his other pair of adorable Christmas jammies. Why are us mother's obsessed with our children's pajamas??? There's just something about them running around in their little pj's looking so cozy. Gotta love it!

Let It Snow

Last month my brother was in town and the boys decided to go snow sledding just before it started to melt. So here are a few shots I managed to get of them playing in the snow. They had a good time and Cade just loved his little Elmo gloves he got wear. He is just in awe to see Elmo on his hands everytime he wears them. He seemed kind of uncertain about the sledding thing, but really liked it when I was at the bottom of the hill for him and dad to run into.

An Early Christmas Present...

Hello everyone, it's Megan.... Beth asked me to post for her (since she can't do it from work) to let everyone know that Sarah's water broke this morning at 7 a.m. She is just 35 weeks and wasn't due until the 19th of January!! Beth said she has been having some back labor recently so she had a feeling that he would be coming early, but had no idea it would be this early. She has rushed off to the hospital with Owen in tow, after having NOTHING packed as of this morning. But we should expect some news hopefully soon, about Cameron Joseph's arrival!!
Stay tuned......

UPDATE - Cameron Joseph has arrived. Mom and baby are both doing well. He was born around 11:30 this morning. 5lbs 5oz. and 18 3/4 inches long, with dark curly hair. Beth had talked to Cody briefly but was still waiting for Sarah to call her back to get the full details. I'm sure pictures will be posted just as soon as they are available!

Helping Dad put up the Christmas tree

The many faces of Cade in front of our Christmas tree. It's not completely decorated, but I had to take some quick pics of him when we first put it up.

Thanksgiving

Okay, so I'm a little behind at posting these pictures. These are from Thanksgiving at Gramma Debbie's house. Cade found this little chair that his gramma got out for him. He just loves it and it is just his size!

What's new

Just a little update on the Brooks Family. Not every post comes with a picture I guess. I am finding less and less time to "blog" as my little guy is keeping me very busy. He is walking all over the place. He actually began walking over the long weekend of Veteran's day. And has been going non-stop ever since. I wish I could post a video of him for you out-of-towners but I can't get it to work. Our house planning is coming along. We are hoping to start in March so it is just around the corner. Our next project is to get this house ready to sell. The hardest part will be getting all the clutter out of sight. But we have really enjoyed this home. We put a lot of work into it...well, my dad, brother, and husband did anyway. And we have made many memories here in the short time we've lived here. But we are ready for something a little bigger and more secluded.

We are anxiously waiting for baby Cameron to arrive. It should make things a little more interesting in the Muhs household (as if it isn't already). Owen is growing up so fast and couldn't be more ready to be a big brother! Sarah is scheduled to have a c-section on January 14th, but it could be a little sooner - she's been feeling what she thinks might be contractions already. I can't wait! We are planning to go in February to meet the little booger. Well, happy holidays to everyone!
