Funny story. On my way home from the store tonight, I anticipated or more like dreaded the #1 question from my husband, which is..."How much did you spend tonight?" I even hid the receipt in a different place than usual in my purse just so he wouldn't find it. Pathetic, huh? Why on earth do I feel the need to do this? To avoid the discussion/fight/whatever you want to call it...it's like groundhogs day and it occurs every single time I go to the store. I can't believe I actually dread arriving home because of it! But that's life I suppose. Married life.
So as we begin to unload the groceries, he asks me..."how much did you spend tonight honey?" I said, "take a guess". He says, "100 dollars?" "HAHAHAHAHA, that's funny", I said. "2 kids and 5 years later, try 275 dollars!" I couldn't believe it. He has no clue. Our bill was usually around $100 when we first got married and had no kids. Now we have two boys that eat more than we do and a house twice the size of our last and he somehow manages to believe it costs the same? Too funny. I'm glad our relationship is still humorous after 9 1/2 years.

Tell Ryan he just got another new driver you should have plenty of room to spend as much as you want. Or make him do the shopping and when he leaves things out or gets the wrong thing send him back!
Haha, I like Jess' idea about sending him back when he gets the wrong thing or forgets something. He'd be living at the grocery store! Hang in there, maybe someday he'll finally get a clue. Ok, just add a bottle of wine to your already expensive grocery bill. ;)
Oh sister....I feel your pain. Literally, : )
thats ok ours was $250 the other day and we forgot to get about half of what we needed then I went today to get 3 cases of diet coke, 2 cans of baby formula $53
your right, they totally have no clue! luckily, my husband never asks me how much I spend, he doesn't care....me on the other hand, every time he stops at the grocery store for me, the first word out of my mouth is "how much did you spend?" LOL!
